Wearshield® BU

Stick (SMAW)

WEARSHIELD® BU stick electrode is ideal for build-up of carbon or low alloy steels. Use this to rebuild the base material prior to application of hardfacing product. (Build-Up and Joining)

DETAILS

WEARSHIELD® BU stick electrode is ideal for build-up of carbon or low alloy steels for parts that will be machined/forged or before application of a hardfacing product. Typical applications include build-up of shovel/bucket lips, pump impellers/housings, pulverize plows and mill hammers OR hardfacing of trunnions, tractor rolls, cranes and gears. IT can be welded in flat & horizontal positions with unlimited layers (given proper preheat, interpass temperatures and procedures).

Features

  • Build-up with moderate hardness to resist shock and metal-to-metal wear, as in rolling and sliding
  • Can be used as under base for other hardfacing deposits or as final overlay on parts to be machined or forged
  • Unlimited layers with proper preheat, interpass temperatures and procedures
  • Use on mild and low alloy steels

Typical Applications

  • For Build Up: Shovel Bucket lips Pump impellers Housings Pulverize plows Mill hammers
  • For Hardfacing: Trunnionstractor rolls Cranes and gears

Welding Positions

  • Flat/Horizontal
