5556A este folosita in mod uzual pentru sudarea materialelor de baza de inalta rezistenta, cum ar fi 5083 si ofera o rezistenta buna pe materiale de baza din tipul 6XXX. Elementele sunt controlate pentru a obtine o rezistenta mai mare a sudurii fata de aliajul 5356. Prezinta rezistenta ridicata la coroziune, facandu-l potrivit pentru aplicatii maritime. Ductilitate buna si rezistenta imbunatatita la fisurare.
